Topic: “Achieving Continuous Quality Through People, Process, Tools and Culture ”
Synopsis: In today's fast paced technological world, organisations are striving to deliver value to their customers faster and faster to stay ahead of their competitors. Finding the right balance between speed and quality isn't easy however, and quality is not something that can be simply "tested in" at the end of a development cycle. To be successful, quality needs to be built in continuously throughout, and that starts with firstly understanding what quality really means. To help kick start things, in this talk, Stuart will describe how through people, process, tools and culture you can start building the foundations to achieving continuous quality and really understand what quality means to your organisation and customers, along with how you can start to measure it.

Title: "Quality Assist Model – Experience "
Abstract: How do you scale an organisation to ensure good ownership and accountability for quality delivery? And, how do you do this to ensure fast and rapid delivery of product features in a context where good technical test engineering is limited. This talk presents one model for trying to resolve this at scale - called quality assistance. We present the model and some lessons learnt from its deployment.

Topic: "Shift Left Testing - Engineering A practical QA strategy”
Synopsis: Building a process is the cheapest way to build a culture I have been taught. I have worked in several different organisations and testing almost every eventually becomes the last step. Shift Left testing has been talked about in the market and is considered a key practice for successful software development. But unfortunately, the essence fizzles out because teams do not fully understand it, very few people are advocating for it and the never-ending pressure of time does not allow us to follow it properly. From my experience I have been able to build cultures where shift left testing is understood and also followed without feeling the QA is stifling the overall delivery. It's key that leadership sees value in the vision since a culture shift is more profound when top-down and also leaders understand the cost of a bad implementation. One of the key contributors to making this shift is getting test designs and cases completed before development begins so the devs and QAs are fully aligned on the requirement and in a true sense we can build Test Driven Development.
Another aspect of my talk is on QA strategy. This document is constantly evolving and is a guiding principle for the entire engineering team and not just QA. There are a lot of websites which talk about what all a test strategy document should contain but no one mentions the most relevant aspect of how it can be practically followed and keeps referring to it. A strategy document should build a shared ownership of testing between QA and devs. It should define how testing should occur and complete while constantly taking cue from the shift left mindset. The strategy should touch on Automation principles, Jira lifecycles, Test reporting and many more surrounding pillars of engineering Quality assurance.

Topic: ''Quality vs. Speed: Make the right choice for the business”
Synopsis: "We don't have time to write unit tests…" - Anonymous CTO, Large struggling Tech company, 2022
- this question can be draining. Despite abundant literature, statistical evidence, and logical arguments, effectively responding to such challenges remains difficult.
As a consultant, I've repeatedly witnessed a startling reality: test automation is deprioritized for ‘speed’, refactoring relegated to 'Tech Debt Sprints', pairing discouraged, and the goal of automated deployments replaced by manual processes. The consequences are widespread. Software not built with quality practices becomes a hidden root cause of major issues, manifesting in news headlines, government failures, and collapsing businesses. It leads to customer dissatisfaction, business demise, and sometimes, even loss of lives.
In stark contrast, I have yet to encounter a business plagued by having too many tests, engaging in excessive refactoring, implementing too much automation, or practicing overly frequent pairing. Rather, companies embracing these practices are the ones I see thriving and consistently outperforming in their markets.
So why, in 2024 does this still happen? I may conject that there is two reasons for this:
1. - Our business leaders are poorly informed as to why these practices are critically important to them.
2. - Engineers are poorly equipped to inform them.
This talk aims to fix that!

Topic: “Maximising value through Quality Engineering with the Quality Engineering Charter Synopsis”
Synopsis: It’s widely reported that only 52% of software projects pass the post-release test for quality. It’s a statistic that is floating around in a sea of equally frightening ones and something that we’ve all seen become very visible in the public domain in light of some high-profile technology failures in recent times. The need for Quality Engineering is crystal clear. The Quality Engineering Charter was developed by a Forum of seasoned quality engineering professionals united in their goal to elevate standards to enable organisations to improve technology delivery. In this session, some of the founding signatories will introduce you to the Charter, its mission to provide the foundations for effective Quality Engineering to deliver business value, whilst inspiring motivated and enabled teams that lead to better quality outputs, and core Principles to enable maximised value through Quality Engineering.

Topic: "The Engagement of people and tools in ensuring that the applications under testing meet business requirements”
Synopsis: How to engage with people and tools (business colleagues, developers, and documentation) to ensure testing applications meet business requirements adequately.
Software testing plays a crucial role in ensuring that software meets business requirements. The goal of software testing is to identify defects, errors, or any other issues in software that may affect its performance or ability to meet business requirements. Hence to ensure business requirements are met adequately, and fit for purpose applications are delivered, we must engage with people and tools including: business colleagues, systems developers, documentations, and systems.
Here are some key points to keep in mind when considering engagement and software testing to meet business requirements adequately.
Business Colleagues:
Understand the scope of the project through various meetings.
Documentation:
Read through different documents to acquire product knowledge: Business Requirements Document-BRD: High Level Documents (HLD), Low Leve Documents (LLD)
Produce Test Plan
Systems:
Identification of Testable requirements and building test cases and test scripts
Developers: Execution Stage:
Work with developers to understand release schedule. Applying different testing techniques-negative and positive testing, exploratory testing, equivalence portioning, boundary value analysis, syntax testing-alphanumeric
Raising bugs

Title: Demystifying Cross Functional Requirements for Team Implementation
Cross-functional requirements (CFRs)
Abstract: In this workshop, I would like to elaborate on why it is essential to consider testing for cross-functional requirements and introduce an approach to continuous testing of all cross-functional requirements and make it a part of the process. I will cover how to uncover different CFRs, including those really vague ones, and therefore aid in continuous testing and building quality into the software. This workshop provides the tools and techniques to introduce and implement CFRs within your teams or organizations. I will share how to create your own CFR template and I will share the knowledge you need to facilitate your own sessions with your teams
